The Healers, Live At Knuckleheads was not only nominated for a prestigious 2014 Blues Music Award for “Best DVD”, but it was also nominated for a 2014 Blues Blast Music Award for the same honor! No big surprise, considering the calibre of talent on this release, plus the rave reviews from fans and critics alike!

Each of the musicians on this recording have been instrumental in helping to raise both funds and awareness for Blue Star Connection, an organization which provides access and ownership of musical instruments to medically-fragile children, teens and young adults with acute illnesses and other tough challenges. On this particular night (November 11, 2012), they all took the stage together to show their support and bolster the BSC mission. A very appreciative crowd was on hand at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City to cheer on the music, and champion the great cause that is Blue Star Connection.

Finding joy and strength in the face of heartache and hard times is the essence of the blues, and so it makes perfect sense for these blues men and women to carry the banner for Blue Star Connection. On November 11, 2012, six accomplished performers, Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie), Reese Wynans (Double Trouble), Samantha Fish, Kate Moss, and Danielle Nicole and Kris Schnebelen (both of the acclaimed KC-based band Trampled Under Foot ) took the stage at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City and brought the mission of BSC to life, playing music so those in need can experience and be transformed by its healing power.

We can't all sing and play like these six world-class talents, but those who benefit from the work of Blue Star Connection can touch the tools that dreams are made of, escaping their circumstances and imagine the possibility of taking their talents to a stage in a concert hall or club. This is what makes Live At Knuckleheads more than just another great live album and special souvenir. The DVD is about hope, and adding it to your collection makes you a Healer, too.   –Josh Hathaway /  BlindedBySound.com

JIMMY HALL

Vocals / Sax / Harp

Jimmy Hall first gained notoriety as the front man for the band Wet Willie in Mobile Alabama. His unique brand of R&B-infused rock and roll swagger propelled the group’s “Keep On Smilin’” into the Top 10 on the Billboard singles chart in 1974. Jimmy has worn many hats in the biz, including music directing Hank Williams Jr.'s band since the 1980s. He was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Jeff Beck’s 1986 album, Flash, and has been touring recently with Beck as his featured vocalist.

SAMANTHA FISH

Guitar / Vocals

While she was still in her mid-20s, Samantha Fish had already released two CDs, played all over the world and shared the stage with legendary artists from Tab Benoit to Jonny Lang. Labelmate and sometimes touring buddy, Mike Zito has long championed Samantha, producing her critically acclaimed albums, Runaway and Black Wind Howlin’ (2013). July of 2015 Sam released Wild Heart on Ruf (produced by Luther Dickinson) and has been touring the world ever since in support of it, often stopping to help out Blue Star Connection with a hospital visit or a autographed guitar.

REESE WYNANS

Piano / Organ

Perhaps best known for his work with Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble (inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in  2015), Reese Wynans has performed and recorded with a who's who in the music industry, including Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, among countless others. Since 2015 he's toured the world and recorded with Joe Bonamassa, and both Joe and Reese continue to support the ongoing efforts of Blue Star Connection, appearing at events and bringing awareness to BSC.

KATE MOSS

Guitar

Kate Moss has enjoyed playing guitar since her teens, but it wasn’t until she met Buddy Guy at the age of 21 that she realized what genre of music commanded her focus: The Blues. Exploring Buddy's music and that of his contemporaries, she fell in love with the sound and the heartfelt, improvisational nature of the Blues. In addition to her work with Blue Star Connection and The Healers, Kate performs regularly with The Smiley Tillmon Band in and around Chicago, and hits the road from time to time for special events and festivals with the likes of Mud Morganfield and Jimmy Vivino.

DANIELLE SCHNEBELEN

Vocals / Bass

After years of singing in coffeehouses and at open mics, Danielle Nicole Schnebelen and her brothers (Nick and fellow Healer Kris) formed Trampled Under Foot. After 13 years, several acclaimed albums and years of nonstop touring, the three members of TUF moved on to pursue their individual interests. Danielle formed her own band and released a blues-soul album Wolf Den (feat. Anders Osborne) on Concord Records. Danielle lends her incredible voice and impressive bass chops to The Healers, Live At Knuckleheads.

KRIS SCHNEBELEN

Drums

Kris Schnebelen is an American blues drummer. In 2008 Trampled Under Foot, Kris' first band with his brother Nick and sister Danielle Nicole, took 1st place at the International Blues Competition. TUF went on to win a BMA in 2014 for Band of the Year and is awaiting an induction in the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2017. In 2015 Kris joined the Albert Castiglia band, and in 2016 joined his 3rd touring outfit, The Sean Chambers Band. Kris is currently recording Sean's 6th CD with Ben Elliot at Showplace Records. With a full touring roster set for 2017 Kris plans to play all over the country and beyond!
